Recipe Tips
For a richer flavor, you can add a few tablespoons of red wine to the slow cooker along with the other ingredients. If you want to add a bit of heat to the dish, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce.
To make the dish even heartier, you can add a few potatoes and/or mushrooms to the slow cooker. If you do this, you may need to add a bit more beef broth or stock to ensure that the vegetables are properly cooked.
If you want a thicker gravy, you can whisk together a few tablespoons of flour with a bit of cold water and stir it into the slow cooker after the beef is cooked. This will help thicken the sauce.
